In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we sometimes forget why we chose our loved one and tend to magnify what doesn't work in our relationship rather than what does. I once wrote about this love ritual:
For me, a modern love relationship balances safety and trust on the one hand, and liveliness and the unknown on the other. When you give space to all these elements in your relationship, a dynamic emerges in which you can grow both individually and together. And that, in turn, increases your love for everything and everyone around you.
The secret to such a relationship, for me, is sharing everything with my loved one. We're completely transparent about our wishes, thoughts, desires, and experiences. And to ensure we don't forget to share anything amidst the daily hustle and bustle, we have a sharing day every month. A whole day, in our own familiar bed, to share our hearts, to listen, and to be intimate. Because that's the beauty of it: no matter how exciting it sometimes seems to share something, or how painful it sometimes is to hear it, it ultimately brings us closer together.
